Isle of Mull Autumn Photography Tour – October 2026
Experience the Isle of Mull at one of the most beautiful times of the year. As autumn colours spread across the island and the summer crowds disappear, October offers a wonderful opportunity to slow down, immerse yourself in the landscape, and photograph Mull's incredible wildlife in a more peaceful setting.
This 4-day photography tour has been designed for photographers who want to maximise their days in the field, with plenty of time to photograph otters and red deer. Not forgetting some of Mull's most iconic and spectacular scenery too.
With only four participants, you'll enjoy a small, friendly group where everyone has plenty of space, personal guidance and the flexibility to make the most of changing weather, light and wildlife opportunities.
What’s included within your trip?
Accommodation is arranged as part of this package and this will be on a 4 night basis. This is a large house in Tobermory.
Each participant will have their own en-suite bedroom.
Breakfast, packed lunch and evening meals.
I will be offering full support to each participant to ensure you’re comfortable with your camera and settings in all scenarios.
An image review and editing workshop in the evenings.
Equipment required for your trip?
Your camera.
A lens with a focal length of 400mm or above is ideal.
Wide angle lens for landscapes and waterfalls.
Tripod.
Spare batteries/cards and any other camera equipment you wouldn’t normally leave the house without.
Warm and waterproof clothing and a decent pair of walking boots. The weather can be very changeable on Mull.

Fitness required for this trip?
Very little walking will be involved on this trip.
Itinerary
Arrival- Arrive on Mull. We will meet at the property in Tobermory for 6pm. We will then have dinner together and run through the plan for the coming days.
Each day thereafter we will be heading out to photograph otters, red deer and the landscapes along the way.
Final day- You will be required to check-out from the property by 10am, however we will head out that day once again for more wildlife photography.

Dates - 18th-22nd October and 22nd - 26th October.
Group size - Maximum of 4 people per tour.
Cost - £1,100 per person.

Had an amazing time on the Isle of Mull tour. Richard was leading the tour and his lovely wife was making sure that we were all well fed and taken care of, preparing meals, plus coffee and snacks for our breaks while out in the field. We had loads of good sightings and plenty of opportunity for taking images. Richard was giving all his time to make sure we were happy with our images and he was always available for advice - he did NOT carry a camera because he wanted to offer all his attention to the group! He is very knowledgeable and was making sure that wildlife was undisturbed. Even during his free time, he was available for critique and for advice on photo editing. All in all a great experience! One of the real benefits of a dedicated photography tour like this is the opportunity to build a stronger, more varied portfolio. Returning to the same subjects in a different season allows you to capture images that simply aren't possible at other times of the year. Many of my own favourite otter photographs have been taken during autumn, when the softer light, changing weather and seasonal behaviour create entirely different photographic opportunities. With the added bonus of no midges and far fewer people on the island, you'll be able to work more comfortably and spend longer with your subjects, giving you the best chance of creating truly memorable images.
