NORWAY IN THE WINTER - 2024 TOUR
Join me this March when I will be co-guiding in Norway's most fabled national park, Dovrefjell-Sunndalsfjella. Myself and Even Hønsen Agerup have put together a trip of a lifetime and look forward to welcoming you there.
Even has been working with the Musk Oxen for over 12 years and has guided hundreds of people, including famous YouTubers such as Morten Hilmer, and many well known companies, such as the BBC. You can get an idea of what to expect and see Even guiding Morten by clicking on the video link below.
Dovrefjell is the only area in Europe where a viable and wild population of musk oxen can be found! As well as the Musk Oxen, the national park is home to a wide variety of wildlife, such as wild Reindeer, Arctic Foxes, Hawk Owls, Wolverines, Ptarmigan and Golden Eagles to name just a few.
This photo-tour will be primarily focused on photographing the Musk Oxen in the snow and at this time of year, you get to enjoy the landscape in winter conditions but without having to endure the challenging temperatures that January and February can bring.

Itinerary
Day One - You will arrive in the afternoon and we will pick you up from Dombås train station. You can then settle into the accommodation. That evening Even will run a short presentation about the national park and its wildlife. We will then have dinner together, sit down to talk about the upcoming days and what we can expect to see and photograph.
Day Two - We will have breakfast early and make our packed lunches. We will then spend the whole day photographing the Musk Oxen. It is always possible to see other wildlife whilst we are in the mountains too. We will then head back to the accommodation, go through images and have dinner together.
Day Three - Day three will be the same at day two, with a day in the mountains photographing the Musk Oxen and again, just like day two we will then head back to the accommodation, relax by the log fire whilst going through the images and have dinner together.
Day Four - We will have breakfast, make our lunches and head out for another day of wildlife photography. This day is kept flexible and will depend on how everyone is feeling after two days of being up in the mountains. Even has been working with a range of wildlife in Dovrefjell from Hawk Owls, Ptarmigan, Dippers, Stoats, Hares and I have personally photographed Beavers there, so there are many different opportunities. It is also very possible, if people feel up for it, that we go back up into the mountains for the Musk Oxen again. After a day outdoors photographing wildlife we will then go back to the cabins, look through our images and have dinner together. Each evening Even and I will be offering editing support too.
Day Five - We will have breakfast together before leaving the national park and heading back to the train station.
Fitness required for your trip?
This tour requires you to have a good level of fitness. When photographing the Musk Oxen it is possible to walk up to 20km, but this of course depends on where the animals are at the time and it could be much, much less.
We’ll be out all day and this ensures we can walk at a leisurely pace and take plenty of breaks, which also provides great opportunities to take in the surrounding landscapes. We will also keep you fuelled with Norway’s best banana bread and hot chocolate.
