<image:title>Woodland Hide Contact - Dipper Workshop</image:title>
<image:caption>Join me on this workshop for the opportunity to photograph Britains only aquatic song bird, the Dipper. I am running this workshop across three beautiful locations here in the UK, East Devon, Exmoor and the Derbyshire Dales. Dippers are my all time favourite bird and one I have had the pleasure of spending much time with. My workshops are typically run on a 1-1 basis as this ensures that I can offer you the maximum guidance and support. However I am happy to run a 2-1 workshop should you wish to book with a friend. We will meet at sunrise and the session will last for approximately 4 hours and I will also offer a 1 hour zoom call to review and discuss your images.</image:caption>

<image:title>Brown Hare Workshop - Brown Hare Workshop</image:title>
<image:caption>Join award-winning wildlife photographer Richard Campion for an exclusive, workshop dedicated to capturing the elusive Brown Hare in its natural habitat. Set in the stunning landscapes of Derbyshire, this workshop offers a unique opportunity to photograph Britain’s fastest land mammal in action. Known for their keen senses and incredible speed, Brown Hares can be a challenging subject, but with Richard’s expert guidance, you’ll learn how to approach them with patience and precision. This workshop is offered on a 1-1 basis, allowing Richard to provide personalised instruction and ensure a stress-free experience for both you and the wildlife. By approaching the hares quietly on foot, we’ll minimize disturbance to their natural behavior. Morning sessions begin 30 minutes before sunrise, lasting around 4 hours. Afternoon sessions are timed to meet 4 hours before sunset, offering ideal lighting conditions for capturing these incredible creatures.</image:caption>

Richard knew exactly where to go to find this beautiful bird and he helped me capture some great images. He is a cheerful, has a very positive but relaxed approach and really good company. He does not take his own camera on these sessions but devotes the entire time to assisting his clients. Excellent value and very enjoyable.” - Tony Banks “I had an absolutely fantastic day on the river with Richard photographing dippers. His knowledge and patient guidance got us close to these beautiful birds, and he helped me achieve some fantastic shots. <image:caption>“I did a thoroughly enjoyable one day workshop with Richard to photograph Deer in Richmond Park. He was extremely knowledgeable about best places to shoot to get the best pictures possible. Whilst I was soaked to the skin by the end of session I think I got some great shots I am really pleased with. I think whether you are beginner or have a bit more experience Richard provides guidance in an unassuming & supportive way. I also recently contacted him regarding help with Lightroom editing & again he was incredibly responsive & helpful. I couldn’t recommend him highly enough & look forward to doing more workshops with him in the future.” - Jules Oldroyd “I booked a day at Richmond Park with Richard to learn how to photograph the Red Deer. It was an early start, just as the sun was rising. What a great day it turned out to be. I found Richard very helpful and full of knowledge about the Red Deer. We walked a long way that day but the images that Richard helped me get were wonderful. I would recommend him highly.” - Terry McDermott</image:caption>

<image:caption>“I booked the beginners workshop and also had a 3 day workshop in the field with Richard . I enjoyed every minute and gained experience and confidence to progress forward with my photography. Richard is highly knowledgeable and professional , he is passionate about his work and has a genuine understanding and respect for the wildlife he works with. Can’t recommend Richard highly enough he is a fantastic mentor who will go the extra mile to help you. Great company a genuine nice person looking forward to future workshops.” - Nicola Hood “Rich is an amazing photographer and a great guy as well. Very professional and yet easy to get on with, clear with his advice and thoroughly enjoyed spending time photographing with him. If you want to develop your skills at a photographer and enjoy yourself whilst doing so then look no further than Rich. It also helped that his local knowledge meant that wildlife was present when it needed to be, which obviously is not something that can be guaranteed, but the more you know, the luckier you get! I would highly recommend him.” - Paul Saunders</image:caption>

<image:title>Cairngorms Tour 2026 - What Previous Participants Have Said:</image:title>
<image:caption>“I enrolled in Richard's workshop, organized effortlessly via email. The well-coordinated trip involved a pre-trip discussion to gauge my photography level and interests. The small group fostered a friendly atmosphere, and the week was enhanced by delicious food. The unforgettable highlight was getting within 10 m of a mountain hare, a feat I deemed impossible before Richard's guidance. The moment the hare hopped onto the snow, captured through my Sony camera's viewfinder, is etched in my memory. Richard tailored his guidance to my needs, focusing more on positioning for the perfect shot. Special thanks to his wife, Rosie, an unsung hero ensuring everything ran smoothly. If contemplating a session with Richard, don't hesitate—no regrets guaranteed.” - Simon Grinyer</image:caption>

<image:title>Mull Tour 2025 - What Previous Participants Said</image:title>
<image:caption>“I spent an amazing week on the Isle of Mull with Richard photographing otters and other wildlife. The group size is kept small so Richard can give individuals as much or as little help as they might need whatever their ability as a photographer. His knowledge of wildlife and photography is superb as is his fieldcraft skills. He puts your needs first and will leave his camera at home to make sure he has time for you. I came away with a fantastic portfolio of images and am already looking forward to another trip with Richard.” - Keith Humphrey Had an amazing time on the Isle of Mull tour. Richard was leading the tour and his lovely wife was making sure that we were all well fed and taken care of, preparing meals, plus coffee and snacks for our breaks while out in the field. We had loads of good sightings and plenty of opportunity for taking images. Richard was giving all his time to make sure we were happy with our images and he was always available for advice - he did NOT carry a camera because he wanted to offer all his attention to the group! He is very knowledgeable and was making sure that wildlife was undisturbed. Even during his free time, he was available for critique and for advice on photo editing. All in all a great experience! I will definitely join him again on his tours and workshops! - Stavros Eleftheriou</image:caption>

<image:title>Basics of Editing - Make it stand out</image:title>
<image:caption>This is exactly how the RAW file looked before any editing. The image was captured at dusk, on a cold February evening. When I captured this the tones were much more blue and there was a cold feeling to the scene, which I wanted to portray in this image. This is where post processing comes in.</image:caption>

<image:title>Basics of Editing - Make it stand out</image:title>
<image:caption>This final edit was achieved within less than 5 minutes, using Adobe Lightroom. This was a matter of cropping the image and adjusting a couple of sliders and playing with the tones. The final image represents much more of what I remember it feeling like on the evening.</image:caption>

<image:caption>These sessions started organically during lockdown and two years later are still proving to be as popular as ever. I am extremely passionate and committed to helping other photographers, whether that’s to achieve competition worthy images, develop their field-craft, or help them on their road to becoming a professional photographer. Each session is tailored to the participant’s requirements and we can cover a wide range of topics, from the technical side of photography, to how to make a business out of photography. As mentoring is usually over Zoom or Skype, you don’t need to be local to benefit from these sessions.</image:caption>

<image:title>Red Squirrel Workshop - Red Squirrel Workshop</image:title>
<image:caption>This workshop gives you the opportunity to spend the day in two hides in the Yorkshire Dales, photographing red squirrels. These hides allow photographers to capture both static and action shots of Red Squirrels in one session. From moss covered tree stumps and fallen logs to attractive pine trees, lichen covered dry stone walls and not forgetting the reflection pool, this workshop provides the ideal opportunity to create a varied portfolio of Red Squirrel images. You can also attempt to capture Red Squirrels jumping. Some stunning images can be captured with Squirrels being caught “mid-flight” and I will be there to guide you through the best techniques and settings to use, to enable you to achieve these images.</image:caption>

<image:title>Musk Oxen Autumn Tour 2026 - Fitness required for your trip?</image:title>
<image:caption>This tour demands a moderate to high level of fitness. Depending on the location of the Musk Oxen, the walk could extend up to 20 kilometers; however, the distance may vary and could be considerably less. We will be outdoors for the entire day, allowing us to maintain a relaxed pace with frequent breaks. These pauses not only provide ample opportunities to rest but also offer perfect moments to enjoy and photograph the surrounding landscapes.</image:caption>

<image:title>Red Squirrel Little Owl Workshop - Red Squirrel & Little Owl Workshop</image:title>
<image:caption>This workshop gives you the opportunity to spend the day photographing both Red Squirrels and Little Owls across two locations in the Yorkshire Dales and all from the comfort of a hide. These hides allow photographers to get close encounters and capture a range of static and action shots of both the Red Squirrels and the Little Owls. The day will start by photographing the Red Squirrels. This location will allow you the opportunity to capture a wide-range of images, whether it’s Red Squirrels on moss covered tree stumps and fallen logs, or attractive pine trees and lichen covered dry stone walls, this setup has you covered. Not forgetting the reflection pool hide, which is my personal favourite. In addition to the woodland and reflection pool hides you will also get the chance to capture Red Squirrels jumping. Some stunning images can be captured with Squirrels being caught “mid-flight” and I will be there to guide you through the best techniques and settings to use, to enable you to achieve these images.</image:caption>

<image:title>Red Squirrel Little Owl Workshop - We will then move onto the Little Owl location and spend the afternoon/evening there. There are currently 3 different perches that the Little Owls use, giving you lots of photo opportunities. In addition to the owls, there is often Brown Hares in the field, which is always a nice, added bonus.</image:title>
<image:caption>I welcome all levels of photographers, whether you’ve been doing this for years or never picked up a camera, I would love to see you there. I do not use my own camera when I am running these workshops, so I will be there to offer advice and support when and if it’s required.</image:caption>

<image:title>Red Squirrel Little Owl Workshop - Equipment Required</image:title>
<image:caption>Your favourite DSLR or mirrorless camera. A focal length of 300mm is ideal for the Red Squirrel location. (I personally use a 100-400mm) and a focal of 300 to 600mm for the Little Owls (600mm will get you very close!). Tripod is required for both jumping squirrels and Little Owls. The hide rental comes with use of beanbags. However, if you would rather use a gimbal or ball head then each window sill includes a special plate too, where any standard 3/8 inch threaded head (Wimberley included) can be attached. Warm clothing and waterproof footwear. Spare cards and batteries. At a small additional cost I can lend you a Canon 7dmkii and a Canon 100-400mkii lens if you require.</image:caption>

<image:title>Musk Oxen Winter Tour 2027</image:title>
<image:caption>Join me this March when I will be co-guiding in Norway's most fabled national park, Dovrefjell-Sunndalsfjella. Myself and Even Hønsen Agerup have put together a trip of a lifetime and look forward to welcoming you there. Even has been working with the Musk Oxen for over 12 years and has guided hundreds of people, including famous YouTubers such as Morten Hilmer, and many well known companies, such as the BBC. You can get an idea of what to expect and see Even guiding Morten by clicking on the video link below. Dovrefjell is the only area in Europe where a viable and wild population of musk oxen can be found! As well as the Musk Oxen, the national park is home to a wide variety of wildlife, such as wild Reindeer, Arctic Foxes, Hawk Owls, Wolverines, Ptarmigan and Golden Eagles to name just a few. This photo-tour will be primarily focused on photographing the Musk Oxen in the snow and at this time of year, you get to enjoy the landscape in winter conditions but without having to endure the challenging temperatures that January and February can bring.</image:caption>

<image:title>Musk Oxen Winter Tour 2027 - Itinerary</image:title>
<image:caption>Day One - You will arrive in the afternoon and we will pick you up from Dombås train station. You can then settle into the accommodation. That evening Even will run a short presentation about the national park and its wildlife. We will then have dinner together, sit down to talk about the upcoming days and what we can expect to see and photograph. Day Two - We will have breakfast early and make our packed lunches. We will then spend the whole day photographing the Musk Oxen. It is always possible to see other wildlife whilst we are in the mountains too. We will then head back to the accommodation, go through images and have dinner together. Day Three - Day three will be the same at day two, with a day in the mountains photographing the Musk Oxen and again, just like day two we will then head back to the accommodation, relax by the log fire whilst going through the images and have dinner together. Day Four - We will have breakfast, make our lunches and head out for another day of wildlife photography. This day is kept flexible and will depend on how everyone is feeling after two days of being up in the mountains. Even has been working with a range of wildlife in Dovrefjell from Hawk Owls, Ptarmigan, Dippers, Stoats, Hares and I have personally photographed Beavers there, so there are many different opportunities. It is also very possible, if people feel up for it, that we go back up into the mountains for the Musk Oxen again. After a day outdoors photographing wildlife we will then go back to the cabins, look through our images and have dinner together. Each evening Even and I will be offering editing support too. Day Five - We will have breakfast together before leaving the national park and heading back to the train station.</image:caption>

<image:title>Musk Oxen Winter Tour 2027 - Fitness required for your trip?</image:title>
<image:caption>This tour requires you to have a good level of fitness. When photographing the Musk Oxen it is possible to walk up to 20km, but this of course depends on where the animals are at the time and it could be much, much less. We’ll be out all day and this ensures we can walk at a leisurely pace and take plenty of breaks, which also provides great opportunities to take in the surrounding landscapes. We will also keep you fuelled with Norway’s best banana bread and hot chocolate.</image:caption>

<image:title>Mull Tour 2026 - What Previous Participants Said</image:title>

Once you’ve had time to settle in, myself and William will give a short presentation introducing the landscape, its wildlife, and what makes this season so special. Day Two – Photographing the Red Deer After an early breakfast, we’ll prepare our packed lunches and head out for a full day dedicated to photographing the iconic Red Deer in the autumn rut. Along the way, we may also encounter other wildlife and dramatic Highland scenery. Later, we’ll return to our accommodation to go through images together before sitting down to dinner. In the evening, we’ll gather at the house to relax, review the day’s work, and share further image and editing ideas before dinner. Day Four – A Flexible Wildlife Day This day, we will have an earlier breakfast, make our packed lunch and head over to the Cairngorms National Park to spend the day photographing red squirrels and crested tits.
